The Last Archive was founded in December 2012 by Vlad Basalici, an artist who lives and works in Bucharest and London. This archive contains newspapers from all over the world that were published on December 21st 2012, the day that had been predicted to be the last day before the Apocalypse.

Every year an artist is invited to create an installation in relation with the Last Archive at tranzit.ro/Bucharest. First artist was Peter Szabo. The opening of his exhibition "The old, the New and the End" curated by Raluca Voinea was on December 21st 2013. Next year, Monotremu presented "Redemption Day. In 2015, Giles Eldridge has his exhibition "What happens if nothing happens.". Vilmos Koter was our guest with "Suffering from the Irrational" on December 21st 2016
